As of June 2005, BPK has been accepted as a member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)

 

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) represents insurance supervisory authorities of some 180 jurisdictions in more than 120 countries, constituting 97% of the world's insurance premiums.  IAIS was formed to:

·    Promote cooperation among insurance supervisory authorities

·    Set international standards for insurance supervision and regulation

·    Provide training to members

·    Coordinate work with regulators in the other financial sectors and international financial institutions.

 

Since 1999, the IAIS has welcomed insurance professionals as observer members. Currently there are more than 80 observers representing industry associations, professional associations, insurance and reinsurance companies, consultants and international financial institutions.

 

Acceptance of the BPK in the IAIS will enable to follow up with global insurance principles, standards and guidance and will enhance the cooperation with other insurance supervision authorities.

 

The IAIS works closely with other financial sector standard setting bodies and international organizations working to promote financial stability.
