World Press Freedom Day, 3 May

On the occasion of the International Day of Freedom of the Press, the Banking and Payments Authority of Kosovo, extends its sincere wishes to all the media operating in Kosovo. Around the world, this event serves as an opportunity to raise awareness and remind us of the important role that a free and impartial press has in society.

Allow us to recall the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN General Assembly Resolution 59 (1) of December 14th, 1946 which states in Article 16 that freedom of information is a fundamental human right, ”. The Freedom of the Press is considered to be a cornerstone of human rights and a guarantee of other freedoms. Freedom of the press should be a bridge for understanding and knowledge, which encourages transparency and ensures that society enjoys the rule of true justice.

On this occasion, we pay tribute to this day and wish the Kosovar media to continue to exercise freely their rights and responsibilities with professionalism and to be a strong, accurate voice, which is a fundamental condition for true understanding.
